Chapter 4 of Akai Kitsune's Diary of a Manslayer was posted at FFnet a week ago. It's now posted here as well. Yet another great chapter from an author with a gift for quiet character studies. This is a pseudo-sequel to Akai-san's other fic, Kendo No Go. Do check it out, folks.

Chapter 2 of Conspirator's An Unexpected Lesson continues Kenshin's strange adventure with a Kabuki troupe in post-Bakumatsu Japan. Conspirator's stories never fail to please. Fascinating plots and a great mix of humor and angst. Please have a look, everyone.

Pechan, a new artist to this site, has a wonderful pencil drawing of Saitou Tokio in the gallery. In this pic, Tokio is wearing an article of clothing that, hmm, many fans will recognize. Elegantly drawn. A mild warning though: this pic does contain a slightly revealing dress. I'd rate it a PG-13. With that in mind, please have a look, people. And thanks so much to Pechan for sending in her art.

ConRtist, another new artist at this site, has a delightful pic in the gallery that's sure to bring a smile to your face. Battousai and the Easter Bunny. 'Nuff said. Heehee. Seriously, though, it's a fine pic. And thanks so much to ConRtist for sharing her artwork with us. Please check it out, everyone.

Misao Mei Mei has a cool new wallpaper featuring Aoshi. I really like the colors of this. And the pattern is rather mesmerizing. Thanks for sending it in, Misao Mei Mei. Please take a look, everyone.

Artist Monica has a few new pictures of Kaoru and Kenshin (separately, not together) in her gallery. Adorable figures. Very nice colors. Thanks for sharing your work, Monica. Have a look, folks.

Artist perfectCHAOS has a really nice new line drawing of Kaoru and Kenshin (together, not separately). I like the happy expressions on their faces. Thanks for sending in the pic, perfectCHAOS. Check it out, everyone.

I have a new pic of Battousai in my gallery. He's sitting in the woods. And no, it's not really related to any scene in the series or manga. I just felt like drawing trees.

There are some fic updates at FFnet that I haven't had a chance to read or post here yet. Conspirator and Akai Kitsune both have new material there from the last week or so. I'll be checking those out soon.

Although I still update this site regularly (as in at least 2 times a week), those of you who are regular visitors may have noticed a slight decrease in frequency of updates. I'm really sorry about that. It's not due to a lack of interest. It's due to my crazy schedule, and also the fact that my schedule is decided by my project partner, not myself. (I'm bitter about that, but I don't want to start ranting here.)

Today was my first day off in weeks. I spent the first half drawing the new pic of mine I just posted. Then the second half was spent catching up on all the homework I'd neglected over the last few weeks.

I'll update as often as I can, but please keep in mind: I have no staff to run this site. It's just me. I'll do my best. Thanks for your understanding, everyone!

It's always a treat to get new fanart from sherlgirl. She comes up with the most interesting scenes for pics, and they're always beautifully colored and dramatically shaded. Her two newest pics are, as usual, beautifully done. One is of Enishi and Kenshin. The other, of Aoshi and Megumi. Please take a look, everyone. And thanks to sherlgirl for sharing her works!

Nigihayami Haruko has a new chapter of her story Les Symphonies (formerly titled La Symphonie D'Amour) up. This chapter continues the story years later. Again, I really enjoyed the mood and tone that the author has set up. Please check it out, folks.

Artist brancaloba, who is new to this site, has a gorgeous color drawing of Kenshin posted in the gallery. I love the rich colors. Wonderful job shading. And it's always interesting to see Kenshin drawn in non-anime styles. Thanks for sharing the pic, brancaloba. Please take a look, everyone.

Missteya has come up with a nice solution to the dilemma (a few days ago) regarding her drawing of a doujinshi picture. I'm very pleased to be able to post this pic again, this time as a wallpaper. Please check it out, everyone. And thanks to Missteya for her contribution.

Nick Jolliff, a new artist at this site, has sent in two cool monochromatic fanarts of Battousai. I like the expression on Himura Battousai 1. He looks like he's almost smirking a bit. Please check out these pics, everyone. Thanks to Nick Jolliff for sending these in.

Chiisai Lammy has a new oekaki of Battousai and Fireflies. Wistful and sad, I like the tone of this. And the shading is wonderfully done. The eyes and the mouth are my favorite parts of this pic. Thanks to Chiisai Lammy for sharing her art. Do have a look, folks.

Crystal Renee has a great new wallpaper up at her gallery. I like the dark color scheme and the tragic subject matter. Beautifully put together. Very different from her other walls, but I liked this one a great deal. Thanks to Crystal for sending this in. Check it out please, people.

Artist sherlgirl has a humorous (and somewhat bizarre) new RK based comic strip called "What If". It features Saitou and other RK characters in some strange situations. And of course, as always, the artwork is wonderful to look at. Please check this out, everyone! Thanks to sherlgirl for sending it in.

Artist Missteya has a new pic up at the gallery. This one features the Kenshingumi all 10 years younger than they are in the manga timeline. Adorable figures and brilliant color. I especially liked Yahiko. What a cutie. Please take a look, all. Thanks to Missteya for sharing this wonderful pic!

Nigihayami Haruko, a new author at this site, has a lovely one-shot posted called La Symphonie d'Amour. A K&K fic with a slight twist. I enjoyed the quiet, almost-dreamlike tone of this one. The author does a great job setting up the mood of the piece. Nicely written. Check it out, everyone. And thanks so much to Haruko for allowing me to post this.

Artist sherlgirl has a very cool oekaki of Saitou up at her gallery. I love the almost feral sneer. He's just so damned cool looking in this pic. The background is also rather intriguing. Thanks for sharing the pic, sherlgirl! Please take a look, everyone.

Artist klassikalfreak, who is new at this site, has a breathtaking pic of kenshin up at the gallery. Kenshin is beautifully drawn here. And the color scheme is gorgeous. Thanks for allowing me to post this, klassikalfreak. Please take a look, all.

No updates today, I'm afraid.

I keep a pseudo-journal at my account on Deviant Art. If anyone's interested, please feel free to look. I wrote a quick entry today explaining a bit about my schedule and why I haven't updated much. Heh.

DA Journal

I'm still busy, but it ain't nothin' compared to last week. Woohoo.

Update:   Monday, March 15, 2004

I finally have some free time again. Sorry for the semi-disappearing act, but I had a lot of work to do this past two weeks. But my project is finally done. We screened our films today, and it went well. Now we start working on my partner's film. Woohoo! But anyway, onto the updates. Oh, and sorry, but I'm not going to make direct links tonight. I'm too sleepy....

Several great fic updates. Most of these have been posted at FFnet for a while now, so some of you may have read these already....

Linay's epic Broken Pieces has been updated. Chapter 22 is filled with suspense as always. The ending is quite nice. I'll let you read for yourselves to find out what happens. According to Linay, there are 2 more chapters planned for this story. I'm sure many will be sad to see it end.

Fans of Descent into Madness will be thrilled to note that Conspirator has started writing a new story, An Unexpected Lesson. Set during the wandering years, this tale tells of how Kenshin falls in with a troup of Kabuki actors. Interesting premise, isn't it? Conspirator never fails to set up a fascinating world for us to play in.

Angrybee's fantastic Sundial comes to a dramatic close. I love the intricate plot twists on this one. And as always, Angrybee comes up with some really impressive original ideas for her fics. Great characterization, nice blend of humor and angst, and story twists that keep you guessing. Marvelously done.

Plenty of great new artwork to look at as well....

Missteya, a new artist to this site, has an adorable pic called "Kamiya Kasshin Student". Nope, it's not Yahiko, heh. A cute chibi pic with vibrant color. And I love the expression on the figure's face. The pic is also quite humorous. Nicely done.

Holly Ivy is another new artist to this site. She has a new pic posted of Captain Souzou. I love seeing fanart of lesser known characters. Nice coloring and shading on this pic. I especially love the highlights in his hair and the detail on his sword.

Artist Elpheal has some older sketches that she's sent in recently. A beautifully colored pic of Kenshin that looks as if Watsuki-san himself could have drawn it. And a wonderfully motion-filled pic of Misao running. Gorgeous work.

Artist perfectCHAOS has two nice new pics in the gallery. The first one was drawn on a biology test. LOL, that's something I've never seen before. And the second one is a great pic of Misao in modern dress. Both are quite original, and the figures look very cute.

ChiisaiLammy has a great new oekaki painting in her gallery. A picture of Kenshin walking towards Otsu, this one has a marvelously drawn background. Beautiful and realistic. This pic is filled with emotion. I really love the overall tone of it.

Plenty of great stuff to read and look at, everyone. Please check out all these authors' and artists' works!

Hey kiddies, I'm baaaaack.

Thanks to capta:n eccentr:c, a new artist at this site, for a wonderful new wallpaper featuring a very cool (if rather bloody) image and a most appropriate slogan to match. Nicely done. And very moody. Do take a look, everyone.

Chococat, another new wallpaper artist at this site, has two lovely walls featuring Battousai and Tomoe. The first one has a crazy background charged with an electric atmosphere. The second deals with a dark and fateful meeting. Both are great. Have a look-see, folks.

Finally, Valet, a third new artist at the site, has a stunning pic of Battousai in the moonlight. The eyes glow wonderfully, and the backround is haunting. Very clean lines and great coloring. Good enough to rival official RK pics. Check it out, please.

Finally posted ch7 of Sea here. (It's been up at FFnet for a while now.) There are a few other fic updates I need to do. I'll have those up another day.

Thanks to madmelma, a new artist at this site, for sending in a gorgeous pencil drawing of Kenshin. Done in a style very different from the series or manga. It's really interesting to see a more muscled version of the rurouni. Nice sense of mystery to his character here. Do check it out, everyone!

Eiko Makimachi has two wonderful new pictures added to her gallery. The first is a picture of the rurouni amid the fall of snow. I love the emotional tone of this one. The other pic is a beautifully vibrant pic painted on traditional media. Wonderful colors. And again, great emotional tone. Please have a look, all!

I'm going to have to slow down with updates for the next week. I may only post once or not at all. Sorry, but these updates take time, and I can't afford that. After next week, though, I'll resume with the normal regular updates. If you want to send me artwork in the meantime, please feel free to do so. It just may be a few days before I can get them posted. Thanks!

Tani-chan has 3 great new pics of Shinta, Okita, and Kamatari posted in her gallery. Nicely colored. Clean line art. I especially liked the Kamatari pic. I could easily see his personality shine through on that one. Thanks so much, Tani-chan, for sending in the pics! Please check it out, everyone.

Namida has a new Tomoe wallpaper posted as well as a fan art of Tomoe. I like the composition of the wallpaper with an image on only one edge. Looks nice! And the fanart is nicely done as well. I like the textured of the lines. Thanks so much for sharing your artwork, Namida. Everyone, please go have a look.

RoxyD., a new artist to this site, has two great Kenshin pics up in the gallery. A black and white version as well as a colored one, these pics show Kenshin in action, swinging his sakabattou. I especially like the colored version of this. Beautiful shading and wonderfully brilliant colors. Nicely done. Thanks so much for sending these in, RoxyD. Please check out the new pics, folks!

Edit: Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! Return of the King got 11 of 'em, including Best Pic. Ha ha ha ha. Finally, the awards people got it right for once.
