I'm going to risk sounding like a broken record and urge you all to read Nekotsuki's marvelous fic, Tanabata Jasmine. It's a lovely fic, and chapter 14 has been posted. Enjoy.

Artist angelhitomi has an absolutely gorgeous new pic of Kenshin posted. I love the soft look of the image and the gentle colors. I especially liked his eye and his hair. Very nicely done. Please have a look, folks.

I've made some new buttons for my site in case anyone is interested in linking it. I was getting pretty sick of the old ones.

A reminder: Deadline for nominating your favorite fics for the 2003 RKRC Awards is coming up on September 1, 2004. Please be sure to read all the rules before you send in your nominations.

Lady Himura Shishi has a lovely new pic of Kenshin and Tomoe posted. This one features a familiar scene and monologue from the OAV. I like the colors and the painstakingly done text. Nice job. Thanks so much for sending this in, Lady Himura Shishi.

Ranma15177301291 has a new story posted: The Long Road Home. Actually, the first chapter was written a while ago, but the other chapters are recent additions. Great story and plenty of poignant moments. Kenshin and Kaoru have a guest at the dojo months after Jinchuu. Please note: This story has an R rating and massive spoilers for the Jinchuu arc (end of the manga). That said, check it out if you're interested. And thanks so much to Ranma for allowing me to post her marvelous fic.

Chapter 12 of Nekotsuki's Tanabata Jasmine has been posted. More action packed goodness in the latest chapter. Have a look, folks. Good stuff.

I've begun adding contest participants into the regular fan art gallery. First three added/updated: Melissa (aka Kitsuneonna), Lady Himura Shishi, and trunkschan90.

Okay! After removing a supposedly faulty RAM chip from my new comp, things are running smoothly. So far. I don't know. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. LOL. Anyway, with the comp problems and the contest frenzy, it's obviously been a while since I've updated (relatively speaking. Six days isn't really that long of a gap.) But onward....

Please have a look at all the great new art and fic updates, everyone.

Lady Himura Shishi has three colorful new drawings to add to her gallery. I like the bright colors. My favorite pic is the one titled "Father and Son" featuring Kenshin and Kenji in a really sweet moment. Very cute. Thanks so much to Lady Himura Shishi for sending these in.

A new Saitou pic from secretarytocapt3 captures the tough spirit of the Wolf of Mibu very well. I really like secretarytocapt3's unusual drawing style. Her coloring is very pleasing. Great pose. And I like the details, especially on the sword. Thanks for the new pic, secretarytocapt3.

Krista has a cool new wallpaper of Kenshin and Tomoe. Black and white suits them. Nice pic choice, and the elegant decorations are lovely. Thanks so much for the wonderful new wall, Krista.

Namida has a splendid new wall of Kenshin. The layout is elegantly simple and to the point. And I like the very clean look of the pic. Nicely done. Thanks very much for sending this in, Namida.

Nekotsuki updated her fic, Tanabata Jasmine several days ago. If you haven't had a chance to read this story, I definitely recommend it. Action packed and full of suspense. Kenshin gets into a world of trouble while strolling through town one fine day....

Plenty of good stuff. Check it out, folks.

Nekotsuki updated her story Tanabata Jasmine a few days ago with chapter 10. The action builds as Sano goes on an investigation. Very well written and chock-full of action. Do check out this fic, folks. It's really great.

Kendranoelle has 4 new pics added to her art gallery. Very cool images ranging from chibi Kenshin to Battousai with his sword. I like the various expressions Kenshin has in all the pics. And I think the colors for each pic match very well with the overall mood. Lovely work, kendranoelle. Have a look, folks.

ConRtist has collaborated with Cconartist on a cool doujinshi. Based on the same story as Cconartist's contest entry, this comic is the human version, rather than the Chocobo one. Story by Cconartist. Art by ConRtist. They make a nice team, no? Please take a look at their work, everyone.

UPDATE:

Nekotsuki, a new writer at this site, has a great story called Tanabata Jasmine posted. Kenshin gets himself into some pretty deep trouble while buying a flower one day. Curious as to how? Read the fic. It's well-written with smooth, flowing prose. Characterizations are excellent and consistent. The dialogue is nice. And the overall pacing and tone are wonderful. A great read. Check it out, folks. And thanks very much to Nekotsuki for allowing me to post her wonderful story.

CONTEST NEWS:

Bad news: Awards will be announced on August 12th. Sorry, that's a couple days later than I originally hoped. Some of our judges were out of town and one of the judges (*cough me cough*) is having some computer issues. My apologies to the contestants for the long judging time. Thank you so much for your patience. I'm really excited to find out the winners myself. I'm sure that those who've entered the contest feel even more strongly than I do about it.

There is a chance we may have the award results before the 12th. If that happens, I will, of course, post them earlier!

Good news: Since there were so many entries (far more than I expected) and so many of them are really, really good (judging has been extremely difficult!), the other judges and I have decided to add a few categories to the awards list, so there will be a few more small prizes given out.

Chapter 8 of Conspirator's oh-so-cool story, An Unexpected Lesson is up. I think it's safe to say that many of you know how wonderful Conspirator's stories are. And for those of you who have never read one, go and read them now! Trust me. They're great.

Souji Katome has a cool fan art of Kaoru and Tomoe (yup, you read that right, Kaoru and Tomoe in the same pic) posted. I like the idea of the pic. Interesting composition. Thanks so much for sending in your art, Souji Katome. Check it out, folks.

Not much to add today, I'm afraid. I recently got a new computer, and I've brilliantly managed to lose all my old e-mails, so some of the people who sent me submissions will have to re-send. I sent out e-mails to people to let them know, but if you sent me something in the last 2 weeks, and I didn't post it, please send it again. Sorry for the screw-up.

Some minor changes to the links page. Also, another Oro! sighting on the still-tiny-but-hopefully-growing Oro page. And I plan to read more fan fics, so hopefully, I'll be able to request some fic additions from authors.

Some of the judges for the fanart contest are out of town for various reasons. So it'll be a while yet before we announce winners. I'm estimating around August 10th, give or take a few days. Sorry for the wait. I know it's especially difficult for contest participants to have to wait so long. I've had it happen to me before too, and it seems to take forever. Gomen, gomen.

I will eventually be incorporating all contest pics into the regular fanart gallery. I'll also leave a copy of the contest page on the site as well. If any of the contest participants object to being listed on the contributors page and having a page on this site, please let me know. Thanks.

Okay! The RK Fan Art contest is officially closed to any more entries.

Thanks so much to everyone who participated! I'm amazed by the turnout. We had over 100 submissions, and 97 final entries. Very impressive, folks. My expectations were definitely exceeded.

The judges and I have a very difficult task ahead of us, so please be patient as we carefully decide on the awards. There are so many gorgeous entries, it might take a while. I will let everyone know an exact date and time in which we'll be posting the winners.

Oh, and some additions to the entries page: 1.) There is a link to a new page featuring all entries by artists age 14 and under. 2.) Notice the asterisk (*) next to some pic titles. There's an explanation for those at the bottom of the page.

There are 22 cool new entries in the contest since yesterday:
