Update:   Thursday, February 24, 2005

Yes, I'm alive. No update today. I apologize for the delays.

The past few weeks have been crazy, and this past week in particular has been hell. I'm co-cinematographer on a student film this month. This weekend we shot outdoors for three days in the rain. Our crew got caught in a bit of a flood. We had garbage thrown at us from third story windows in a rat-infested alleyway. I was doing hand held shots with a 20 pound camera in this weather. And to top it all off, some crazy woman got into our set, snuck up behind me, and stuck her face in my neck while I was holding the (extremely expensive) camera, and I nearly dropped the damn thing, I was so startled. Don't even ask. It's been nutty.

We're currently scrambling for our final week of principle shooting. We'd lost one of our main locations last minute, and the poor director, producers, and assistant director have been struggling to get us a new location, which we just got yesterday. So there's a ton of work to be done before we can shoot this weekend. And the days that I'd planned to work on stories and the site will now not be available.

It's been like this all month. We've had one mishap after another. None of them have been anyone's fault. But they've all had to be dealt with, and it's been difficult.

I don't know when my schedule will let up. But I just wanted to let people know that I'm not sitting around the house eating bonbons. I seriously have not had the time to do much.

Thanks, by the way, to those who were concerned about the flooding and mudslides in California and inquired into my welfare. I'm quite safe and sound. I really appreciate your concern. It warms my heart. :) I'll be back as soon as I can.

Sincerely,

HB

Lots of lovely art. Do check it out, everyone. Also, I will be adding story updates soon too. My apologies to the writers, but I didn't have time tonight. Anyway, keep an eye out for new material from Omasu, Nekotsuki, Jane Drew, Terry McElrath, and a new writer to this site, Mio.

Ana, a new artist at this site, has a gorgeous watercolor of Kenshin done in a lovely and unique style. I love the eyes. They're so very intense. Thanks so much for sending this in, Ana.

Kenshin's Soul has sent in a beautiful Valentine's Day themed Kenshin pic that I unfortunately didn't get posted in time. Still, it's a wonderful pic. Kenshin looks beautiful. Thanks for the Valentine pic, Kenshin's Soul.

Sherlgirl always sends in quality work. This time it's a gorgeous painting of Aoshi in a bookstore. The background is most impressive. Much thanks, sherlgirl.

Shinomori Misao has two adorable Misao pics posted. The black and white chibi one is especially cute. And full of energy too. Heehee. Thanks for the new art, Shinomori Misao.

Greta has a most amusing picture of Kenshin in a bit of a culinary dilemma. I love the expression on his face. Beautiful shading and coloring. Thanks so much for the lovely artwork, Greta.

Eiko Makimachi sends in two gorgeously painted pics of Battousai and Tomoe. I love the colors on these, and the backgrounds are beautifully composed. Excellent job, Eiko. Thanks so much for sharing your art.

on today's updates.

Update:   Tuesday, February 08, 2005

Hey all,

No update today, I'm afraid. This is just a note to let everyone know that my schedule this month is absolutely crazy, and that updates will be rather sporadic. Apologies to those who have e-mailed me. I haven't had a chance to sit down and reply properly. I will do so as soon as I can.

I'm co-cinematographer on a student film this semester, and we're shooting throughout February. Basically, we shoot every day of every weekend. During the week, I have classes as well as errands to run for the weekend shoots. So I don't have much free time to update the site, draw, or work on my Sea fic.

Thanks for your patience as always, folks. I hope to have another update before this weekend. There's plenty of excellent material sitting in my Inbox.

Peace,
HB
