One day left in the contest!

To see the deadline time in your own timezone, click here.

People's Choice Voting will begin on Monday, sometime in the afternoon. Voting will be open for 1 week. So if you intend to vote, please take a good look at every entry so that you can judge fairly. All the artists worked hard on these pictures. Do have a look, folks.

GENERAL

Another reminder that the 2003-2004 RKRC Awards are back. See my update from yesterday for a link. I'll also be adding a link on my Links page within the next few days.

CONTEST

74, 75 - Janai, a new artist at the site - Two pics with gorgeous coloring and great composition. I like the way Janai draws people's eyes.

76 - ConRtist - A hilarious and sweet doujinshi on Sano's horrific nightmare about sandwiches.... Yes, you read that right. Sandwiches. Hee!

77 - Ellie - A very cool pic of Tomoe. I like the idea of placing her inside an eye. And her expression is so sad despite the smile.

78 - Tokio Saitou - Kaoru's dream for her school. I like the combination of color and monochrome in this. And the skewed perspective makes for an interesting look to the piece.

79 - Battousai Kaoru fan, also a new artist here - I like the colors and the expressions on their faces. Kenshin looks particularly cool in this AU pic.

Update:   Friday, July 29, 2005

Less than 3 days left in the contest! :D I look forward to hopefully more wonderful entries. The artwork has been great so far, and it looks like the competition will be something fierce. The judges are going to have a tough time, I bet.

Due to time constraints and a personal issues, from now until the end of the contest, I will be updating contest pictures only. I will wait until after the contest deadline to update new artists' profiles and fanart gallery images. I think for the next few days, it's best if I make contest images a priority so that the judges can have time to look at all the pics carefully. And also, since I'm going to try to have a People's Choice Award, it's important for this website's guests to have a look at the pics too if they want to vote. :)

So apologies to any fan fic writers, fanartists, and wallpaper artists who have to wait a bit for their stuff to be updated. With the contest deadline looming less than 3 days away, I'm sure you'd understand. Thanks so much for your patience.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT

RKRC Awards are back! Check them out here: 2003-2004 RKRC Awards This year's Awards will cover both 2003 and 2004. So please support the fandom and go and nominate (or second) your favorite fics now!

CONTEST

66 - Katsu Hiten, a new artist at this site - A cool drawing of Kenshin and one of my favorite quotes from the series. I like the determined look on his face. Nicely done.

67, 68 - Kuroneko, also a new artist at the site - Her first pic features Battousai in action with a very cool background. The second shows a nightmare with Kaoru thwapping the poor Rurouni on the head. I like the little "Kenshin" and arrow at the bottom. That's a nice, humorous touch.

69 - Jonathan Constantinides - A profile of Battousai. I like his facial expression. And the sword is nicely drawn. I also like the blurred pattern of lights in the background. Great job.

70 - Kenshin's Soul - I like the unusual concept and composition of this one. The stone markers in his hair are rather eerie. Nice emotional content in this intriguing pic.

71 - Amaiakuyume - I like the rich colors in this montage of images. Interesting use of individual scenes too. The swirling chaotic feel of this pic makes it really feel like a nightmare. Beautiful work.

72 - Arashi - I like the traditional media feel of this CG'ed art. It has some lovely textures and colors. And the emotion in their faces is very evident. Marvelously done.

73 - Wandering Aimlessly - I like the clean style of this image. The colors are wonderfully soft, and they fit very well with the theme and feel of the pic. Also, interesting composition. Really nicely done.

Update:   Monday, July 25, 2005

More lovely artwork today. I still plan to update the fic page, but I'm placing priority on the contest right now. I'll get to everything eventually. :)

FANART

Siobhan has two lovely pics to add to the gallery. One is a colored pic of Megumi and Kanryu. Now that's a character you don't see much fanart of. The other is a gorgeously shaded pencil drawing of Yahiko, Sano, and food. Heh. That one made me smile.

CONTEST

58 - toniq, a new artist at this site - I like the color choice in toniq's pic. I don't usually seen Kaoru done in such golden warm hues. It's really beautiful, and it almost feels like it glows.

59, 60 - Cconartist - Cconartist is known for doing chocobo/RK crossovers. A rather weird combination, but it works, LOL. The first is a kaleidoscope of a Enishi. Quite trippy. And the second is a very funny doujinshi of Enishi caught in a horrible nightmare that I'm sure many fans can relate to.

61 - Chi, another new artist here - I like the darkness of this pic, everything from shadowy Kenshin to the tattered background to the barest hint of wings. The text is also very nicely done, not to mention quite fitting for the theme.

62 - anli, also a new artist at the site - Marvelous soft colors in this pic of Kaoru. I like her pose. And there's so much detail with the flowers. The pic has a definite Spring feel to it. Nicely done.

63 - Author-chan - I can't even imagine how long this must've taken to do. A montage of Battousai done in paper bits and glue. It's a great pic, and all the more impressive for how it was made. Very cool.

64 - Siobhan - This one cracks me up. Everything from the odd pool hall setting to the expressions on their faces. The stained glass overhead lamp is a nice touch. I like the fun feel of this.

65 - Bunneh - I get such a warm feeling seeing this one, which is a rare thing considering it's a pic that consists entirely of villains. The image of Shishio and his family is both pleasant and a bit sad. Lovely colors on this.

Update:   Saturday, July 23, 2005

Huge update today. Plenty of new fanart and contest pics to see. I've also made minor updates to the prizes page. I haven't updated the FanFic section just yet, but there are a few chapters that I'll be adding later on.

As always, thanks to the contributors and contest participants. Check out all the new art, everyone.

FANART

Ken-san's Angel, a new artist at the site, has a really interesting crossover type pic of a rather strange looking Kenshin. Pointed ears and wings. How very cool.

Chibi-Chan (Mika), also a new artist here, has a lovely pic of Misao and a butterfly. I like the bright colors on this one. And it's such a pretty scene.

Myks, another new artist at this site, has a great pic of Battousai. Take a look at the title of the pic. It's very aptly named. Hee. Wonderful job.

Tera-chan has sent in 9 new pics of Kenshin and Kenji. Done in a variety of media, they range from cool black & white pics to vibrant colors. They're beautifully done.

Anithene has a new ink picture with a really interesting composition. I like the expression on her face. Very nicely done.

CONTEST

42 - Image, a new artist at this site - I haven't seen too many pics with Yahiko's point of view, so this was a pleasure. This image was based on a fanfic idea.

43 - xhakuhikarix, also new at this site - I like the colors in this Kenshin and Kaoru pic. And Kaoru looks so sad. I like her facial expression.

44 - Jelley - Misao's nightmare of Aoshi leaving her, and then her dream of him coming back. The indistinct form of Aoshi was a nice choice. I like the wistful feel of this.

45 - Suz - I like the cross-scarred background in this dramatic entry. It's rather disturbing imagery. Definitely a nightmare.

46 - Gretsky - This scene really tugs at one's heart. And it's an interesting choice to see Kenshin dreaming of Tomoe in a warm light, rather than a cold, tragic one. '

47 - Chibi-Chan (Mika) - Misao's sadness really comes across in this pic. I like her pose and facial expression in this.

48 - Bekah Wren - An intriguing twist, to have Battousai as the one dreaming, rather than the Rurouni. The title of this pic really puts a completely different slant on the feel of it.

49, 50, 51 - Yuuki - Three gorgeous montage-type pics, each with a distinct emotional feel to it. I like the colors and textures. And the facial expressions are really powerful.

52 - Eiko Makimachi - Apt title on this picture. The floating flower petals really do look eerily like red blood cells. It's an interesting effect considering the generally warm colors of the pic.

53 - Siobhan - A rare fanart of Saitou and Eiji. Beautifully detailed with nice shading. And the scene effectively combines both a dream and nightmare in one trip.

54, 56, 57 - Ken-san's Angel - I like that the first pic depicts Megumi with Kenshin, instead of Kaoru, as Megumi dreams of what could have been. The second pic is a lovely image of Kenji wanting to be like Kenshin. And the third, well, that one's pretty self explanatory. Horrifying imagery there.

55 - cherryblossom88 - A lovely portrait of Kaoru. I like her expression. It's pretty clear just from her eyes alone that she is filled with hopes and dreams.

Whew! That's a lot of new entries. Just a little over 1 week left, everyone. I hope to see even more beautiful artwork in the week to come. :)

Edit: BTW, there are a couple of new polls on the poll page. :)

Update:   Saturday, July 16, 2005

This is a partial update only. I didn't have time to finish. Please note that there are several contest/fanart/fanfic updates that I have not yet added. I'll get to those in a few days when I have some time. Thanks for your patience!

Just over 2 weeks left in the contest! :)

CONTEST

037 - cherryblossom88 has sent in a hilarious pic of Sano having two very different dreams. This one had me chuckling, especially the nightmare. I can see why Sano's scared! The red dream bubble is a nice touch.

038 - Kotori, a new artist at the site, has a lovely pic of Soujirou in two very different stages of his life. I like that the older Soujirou's face is not visible. It adds a bit of mystery to the pic.

039 & 040 - Kenshin's Soul has two great new entries. I like the way Battousai's hair is flowing in the wind in the first entry. And the blood red tint in the second one really adds to the drama and enhances an already emotionally packed gaze.

041 - Avis, a new artist at this site, has a gorgeous pic of Kenshin and family. At first glance, this seems to be just a stroll through the woods, but a closer look reveals an astonishing amount of symbolism throughout.

Update:   Tuesday, July 12, 2005

I'm back from my trip, but I can't update today. I start working on a friend's film shoot tomorrow. It's a 9-day shoot, so I will either update in small bits or do a large one at the end of that time. I hope you are all having a nice summer so far. Mine's been fun, but quite hectic! I've barely been home at all in the last few weeks. After I'm done with the shoot, though, things will slow down a bit. I'm really looking forward to that!

Anyway, thanks in advance for your patience, especially those of you who have sent in contest entries. (There are quite a few lovely ones sitting in my Inbox.) And for those of you who are still thinking about joining, please know that your entries would be most welcome! :)

Less than 3 weeks left until the contest deadline! ^_^x

Update:   Tuesday, July 05, 2005

Hello everyone, it's been a while since I updated, obviously. I had an out-of-town guest, and we went to AnimeExpo for the last half week. Had a great time. I watched Trust & Betrayal in one of the video rooms, hung out at the Artist Alley with some friends (I didn't sell art myself), saw the Masquerade, and got to shake Tomokazu Seki's hand. Heh. It was my first anime convention, and I had a great time.

Unfortunately, I didn't have computer access, so I couldn't update the site until now. Anyway, plenty of lovely new art to see, so please enjoy. And thanks, as always, to the artist for sharing their cool pics.

CONTEST

29 - Yes, I'm aware this one's missing. It's pending. :)

30 - Melissa (KitsuneOnna) has a great new pic of Yumi. Gorgeous textures on this one.

31 - Yam-sama, a new artist at this site, has an adorable pic of Kenshin sleeping. I like the colors and the happy feel of the pic.

32 - X. Maria Miller has a cool pic of Kenshin. Nice composition. I like the ribbons.

33 - Suz, a new artist at this site, has an interesting picture of Kenshin as Battousai and Rurouni. I like how the Battousai pic is upside-down.

34 - RoseThorn has a wonderfully symbol-rich pic of Kenshin and the two women who love him.

35 - Kendranoelle's beautiful pic has a lovely feel to it. I like the flowing hair and Kenshin's eyes.

36 - Chogrules, a new artist at this site, has a marvelous pic of Kenshin and some symbolic flowers. I like the way this pic is lit.

FANART

Anithene has a new pic of Misao and Soujirou (in spirit). I like how there's an occasional bit of red in the otherwise greyscale pic. Nicely done.

Author Chan has a funny new pic of everyone's favorite Rooster Head... and his little friend. Heehee. This will have you giggling.

Neko Oni has two beautiful new pieces, one of Kenshin and Tomoe. The other is a recreation of a manga panel. Wonderful as always.

WALLPAPERS

Kimmi has a couple of new Seiso-hen based walls that are gorgeously colorful. I especially like the one with Kenshin and Kaoru and a sunset.

Kitsune-Onna19 has lovely new walls of Kenshin, Megumi, and Misao. I'm so glad to see Megumi wallpaper. She doesn't get nearly as much attention as she deserves, IMO.

Scribbles has a beautiful Trust & Betrayal themed wall. I like the subtle colors and the overall softness of the images.

FUTURE PLANS

I'm going on another out of town trip, so I may not respond as quickly to e-mails. Apologies in advance. When I come back, though, I plan to update the prize list in the contest and update a few chapters in fan fics in addition to the usual art updates.
