Finally, a real update. :-) And what an update it is. There are so many wonderful new artworks and wallpapers to see. Thanks very much to all the contributing artists. Enjoy the new art, folks! CONTEST I will be gradually incorporating contest pics into the regular gallery. Slowly but surely, folks. If you were in the contest and your profile page still isn't up, I'll update it soon. Thanks for your patience! FANFICS I'll have these posted soon! FANART Sincere thanks to gts, a friend of mine from DeviantArt and a new contributor to this site. He's been kind enough to dedicate his newest Kenshin art to me. Wee! It's a picture of my favorite sword battle, Kenshin vs. Saitoh in the Kamiya dojo. And let me just say.... Nobody does action scenes better than gts. So much vicious movement! Thank you so much, gts! Kimia-dono, a new artist at this site, has a really cool pic of Kenshin at the end of the war. I like the bold and vivid colors on this. Interesting choice to show just fragments of Kenshin rather than his whole body. oNElASTwHISPER, also a new artist here, has a nice picture of Tokio Saitou, inspired by Angrybee's Hajime & Tokio fic. I like Tokio's eyes. They positively sparkle. And I think the color matches Saitou's eyes well. Artist Kheriah has a great new pic of Kenshin in her gallery. I like the unusual angle and pose. And I like the choice to leave his hair lighter than everything else. Interesting shading choices. It's a beautiful drawing. Tera-chan has several new pics of Kenshin and Kenji to contribute, plus an awesome diagram of the Sakabattou. The Kenshin pics are nicely colored. The Kenji pic is an intriguing blue. And the Sakabattou pic is such a cool and original idea. Siobhan also has several new pictures in the gallery. They range from serious works to the downright funny. Tokio Saitou, Hiko Seijuro, Yahiko (in a pic with magnificent shading!) and Kenshin being chased by a.... Heh. Take a look and find out. Oro! Last but not least, lynnet has a beautiful Seiso-hen inspired picture of Kenshin and a ghostly Tomoe. I like the subdued colors and the wonderful textures of this. And the pic has a great sense of feeling to it. Beautifully done. WALLPAPERS (AWG)Battousai, a new wallpaper artist at the site, has a gorgeous wall of Kenshin and Tomoe. Nice composition and a very clean and elegant design. The black and white is very striking. Artist Kimmi has three new wallpapers in the gallery. Two are of Enishi. (Woohoo!) And the third is a great combination of various Kenshin and Tomoe pics. Wonderfully dark. Author-chan's newest wallpaper had me howling with laughter. It has got to be one of the funniest RK wallpapers I've seen in a very long time. Very original! Trust me on this and take a look. The Narrator has two fantastic new wallpapers, one of Enishi and one of Kenshin. Beautiful colors and richly detailed backgrounds. And clean extractions. Marvelously done. Attention any contest artists who are eligible for the 14 and Under category! Please look at the entries page and make sure your entry number is on a lighter blue background. If it's not, please e-mail me and let me know. And also, to clarify, you are still eligible for the "adult" category awards. So being included in the Under 14 category can't hurt you. The contest is now closed to entries. Thanks to all the artists who participated! A few dates to keep in mind: Aug 1 - Aug 7: People's Choice voting. The voting is on an honor system. Please vote only one time. And please do look at all the pictures before making your decision. The artists worked really hard on their submissions, so every single ones deserves to be looked at, right? :) Sunday, Aug 14: Award announcements. Exact time TBA. And onto the latest batch of entries.... 80 - Shenyu, a new artist at the site - Beautiful colored pencil drawing of an AU Kenshin and Kaoru. I like the creative outfits. They look really good together. 81 - Yam-sama - A very cool, and funny doujinshi. The characters are very well drawn, and the composition flows nicely. It'll definitely bring on some chuckles. 82 - Sekido - A gorgeous pic of Kamatari accompanied by a really poignant poem. I like the colors in this and the wonderfully established mood. 83,90 - Deguchan and Risu, new artists at this site - Two really great pics, one of Battousai and a rather unusual choice of background. The other is creative and amusing crossover between Rurouni Kenshin and Super Mario Brothers of all things.... 84, 85, 86 - SiriusFan13 - Three marvelously drawn pics of Kenshin and Hiko. I like the colors and shading on these. And it's rare to see dreams and nightmares from Hiko's viewpoint. 87 - Q, a new artist at the site - A gorgeous drawing of Kenshin and Kaoru. I like the delicate style and the idea of dreams as fabric. An intriguing scene. 88 - Asuka, a new artist at the site - Beautiful colors and details. And a simply wonderful sense of movement in this picture of Kenshin. 89, 96 - Shawnali, also a new artist here - Two really nice pics. The first is of Kenshin, pondering his nightmares. The second is a lovely pic of Kenshin and Kaoru. I like the interesting alteration to Kaoru's usual costume. 91 - Battousai Kaoru fan - I like the bright colors in this one. Kaoru looks so cute here. The abstract background with a hint of trees (perhaps?) is an nice touch. 92 - angelhitomi - I like the delicate style and colors. And the quiet contentment of the scene really shines through. Wonderful emotion in this one. 93 - Makimachi Motoko - This pic of Tomoe starts out lovely and ends up chillingly creepy as one looks down from her head to her feet. Great concept. 94 - Youko, a new artist here - A quiet, yet very tense moment. I like the expression on Kenshin's face. The sparse background works well. 95 - Yj, another new artist here - A lovely pic of Yumi. I like the colors of this. And her expression is wonderful. Hmm. Three guesses on who she's dreaming of.... 97 - Tokio Saitou - The only entry, I think, that features Saitou Tokio. I like this tender moment. And it's a great choice in that one can't see Saitou's face here. All the tenderness is evident in his hands. 98 - Kamon, a new artist here - Beautiful, smooth coloring in this one. I like the clean style. Interesting choice to have Kaoru's reflection in the blade. The other 9 judges and I are looking forward to judging the pics. The decision making process will be difficult.
